Tarot Reading — What the Cards Whisper to You
As a medium who has sat before the cards for years, I tell you with an open heart; tarot is not knowledge of the future, it is a mirror of the heart. The cards do not steer you, they only make the answer within you visible. I wrote this piece as someone sitting at this candle-lit table, to share how warm a friend my cards can be to you.
What a Tarot Reading Is and Why It Draws So Many People
Tarot is a deck of seventy-eight cards of symbols. The twenty-two Major Arcana cards tell of life's great lessons, while the fifty-six Minor Arcana speak of the texture of everyday life. In every reading I believe these cards begin a conversation; they say something to you, you say something to them, and a quiet echo is born between you. That echo reminds you which circle of your life you are passing through that day.
Some of my seekers ask me, Evelyn, do the cards really tell the future. Each time I give the same answer; the cards do not tell the future, they show today's seed. Whatever you sow today, the cards whisper what you will reap tomorrow. This is why the power of the cards comes not from prophecy, but from awareness. That awareness, whether in love or in work, makes you the master of your own choices, not of fate.
How a Spread Is Laid and How You Prepare
When I begin a reading, I first dim the outer world. The trembling light of a candle, my leather-bound deck and silence are enough. You can create such a space too. Put down your phone, take three deep breaths and narrow your question to a single sentence. Sitting with one clear question, rather than asking many at once, makes your reading far deeper.
The free three-card spread I offer on the homepage follows a classic flow of Past, Present and Future. You choose the cards, I interpret. The first card tells of the near past that shapes your today. The second shows exactly which energy you are moving through now. The third whispers one of the possibilities your current path may lead to. That possibility is not fixed; as you change, so does it.
If you would like to look directly at a card you are curious about today, you can browse our tarot card encyclopedia. Or if you would like to draw a card each morning, add our card of the day page to your browser; let a card carry you a message with your morning coffee.
A Common Misunderstanding — Tarot Is Not Fate
There is no bad news in the cards. Even the Death card speaks of an ending and a cleansing, it is nothing to fear. The most important thing I have seen in my years of reading is that the card people fear most is often the greatest doorway of transformation. Your first feeling when a card appears is usually its true message. If you shiver, there is a truth there; if you relax, you are already at peace with it.
A reversed card is not always negative either. A reversed card sometimes shows the shadow side of the card, sometimes that its energy is only being born, and sometimes that a block is about to dissolve. When I see a reversed card, I never read it as a frightening signal; I take it as a gentle invitation to turn inward.
Tarot in Love, Career and the Spiritual Path
In Love Questions
In love, my seekers most often wonder about three things; will this relationship move forward, is this person right for me, why am I still alone. The cards give no direct yes or no to these questions. Instead they show which knot in your heart keeps you away, which courage wants to awaken. For a detailed love reading you can make use of my Love Tarot Reading on the homepage.
In Career and Abundance Questions
In career readings, Pentacle cards often appear. If you are going through a material difficulty, the Five of Pentacles reminds you that you are not alone; if you are mastering a craft, the Eight of Pentacles celebrates you. If you feel at a threshold in your career, a Career Reading can be a beautiful start to see the vibration of your next steps together.
The Spiritual Path and Life Compass
Some seekers come to me not with a concrete question, but simply with a lost feeling. I always tell them; feeling lost is actually a sign that you are about to find a new road. A Life Compass Reading is my favourite work for those who wish to sit with this feeling.
Why Me, and Not Another Reader
From a young age I grew up at my grandmother's candle-lit table. Over the years I trained in tarot, western astrology, Kabbalistic symbolism and dream work. But my greatest teacher was learning to listen in silence. If you would like to know more closely who I am and how I walk this path, you can read my About Me page; there I have shared with you the woman behind the candle-lit table.
How You Begin
The shortest road begins right here today. Press the Reveal Your Cards button at the top of the page, write your name and your question, then choose the three cards that call to you from the deck. When the cards open, a short reading is offered to you, and if you wish, you may take an access code through Etsy to enter a private session where you can speak with me as much as you like. Our conversations stay, and when you open it again during the week you can continue where you left off.
Another path I would like to extend to you the same day is a real psychic reading. When you fill in the form for the reading you purchased on Etsy, I quietly sit down at my table for you and write from the tip of my pen what the cards say. Your reading reaches your email address and you can return to read it whenever you wish.
Open your heart. Hold your question close. The cards are already whispering something to you. I am here, under the trembling flame of the candle, ready to listen to you.
