Zodiac compatibility is really the language of the elements
When people ask me about compatibility they are usually waiting for a single answer, sweet soul. Are we a match or are we not. Yet the sky has never spoken that way. The sky does not tell us who belongs with whom. It only shows the speed at which two people breathe. Some people breathe at the same pace and never tire one another. Others move at different speeds and grow one another instead. Both are possible and both are beautiful.

The fastest way to lose an air sign is to stop speaking with it. The water signs are Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. They understand by feeling, they hear what goes unsaid, and they cannot stay on the surface without depth. For a water sign, silence often speaks louder than words.
How the elements speak to one another
When two signs of the same element come together a deep ease appears. They never have to explain themselves, because both speak the same language. In difficult pairings the problem is never incompatibility. It is impatience. If both sides try to make the other resemble themselves they will exhaust one another. If they accept the difference, they become the missing side of each other.
Keep this in mind as you read the result
This calculation looks only at sun signs, and that is an important limit. Your sun sign is your essence, but your rising sign describes how you appear to the world and your moon sign how you feel. Two people may look mismatched by sun sign and get along beautifully thanks to their risings. So when you see a low result do not be disheartened straight away. Look at your rising sign first.
And do not forget this either. Compatibility is a starting condition, not a guarantee. Two people of the same element can part ways, and two people of opposing elements can stay together for a lifetime. The sky reports the weather. The journey is still yours to make. I never describe any pairing as impossible in my readings, because I have never seen such a thing.

Our signs came out incompatible, should we separate?
Absolutely not, my dear, and please do not look here for a decision like that. An incompatible result only says that two energies naturally flow at different speeds. That means effort is required, not that it is impossible. I have been listening to people for years and I have seen very solid bonds come out of difficult pairings.
Is rising sign compatibility more important?
Some astrologers think so and they are not without reason. Your sun sign describes your essence while your rising describes the version of you that shows up in a relationship. In daily life the other person is usually meeting your rising. So looking at both is the truest approach. Neither alone gives the whole picture.
Are two people of the same sign compatible?
They are usually very comfortable together because they never have to explain themselves. But there is a shadow to it. Both grow tired from the same place and both need support at the same moment. Two Cancers together are wonderfully tender, but when both are fragile nobody is left to do the holding. So the same sign is at once the easiest and sometimes the most tiring pairing.
